Estonian Male Choirs Association

Estonian Male Choirs Association (EMCA) was founded on November 5, 1988.

Since its creation, the members of the society have been all male choirs operating in Estonia. The members of the society are 31 male choirs with nearly 1,000 singers, 7 youth male choirs with 150 singers and 52 boys’ choirs with 1,450 singers, being the largest singing society in Estonia with 2,500 singers.
At present, most boys’ choirs have joined the association and we are at the forefront of the world in terms of their number.

The association has contributed to the intensification of the activities of boys ‘choirs with the annual national sports and singing camps for boys’ choirs, and regular competitions of boys ‘choirs and boys’ soloists and ensembles.
Several youth male choirs have been established since 1999 on the initiative of the association in order to gain offspring for male choirs.

The patron of the Estonian Male Choirs Association is the president of the Republic of Estonia.

EMCA has valued and initiated several important events and traditions for the Estonian people, such as the hoisting of the national flag on the Tall Hermann Tower on the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia on February 24, the celebration of Mother’s Day with a gala concert in the Estonia Concert Hall etc.
