From 6-10 July 2025, Tallinn will host Leading Voices, an event of the European Choral Association organised in cooperation with the Estonian Choral Association and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.

Leading Voices is a kind of symposium which during five days will inspire and train choral conductors/vocal leaders, composers/arrangers, vocal coaches, music educators/teachers, professional ensemble singers and managers of all levels and generations.

It offers participants the possibility to actively explore, experience, and discuss the future of choral music through labs, lectures, workshops, lessons, and live concerts with inspiring choirs from around the world.

The event will open with the Estonian Song Celebration, featuring more than 20.000 people singing together on the traditional shell stage.

The main venue of the event will be the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn. The city, known for its vibrant musical and choral life, previously hosted the Europa Cantat festival in 2018 and is famous for its song celebrations held every five years. What else can you do in leading Voices, being presentor/publisher/event organiser?

After seeing at Leading Voices 2022 that the expo was not well-visited, and discussing this with different publishers, event organisers and representatives of organisations, we decided NOT to have an Expo area at Leading Voices 2025. Instead we plan to:

  • Offer one or two lounges where publishers, composers and conductors can meet
(they will be published in the regular programme)
  • Offer several other lounges that could be interesting for publishers as well as event organisers and project representatives (for example about international cooperation,
for managers of professional choirs and amateur choirs, for music educators and children’s choir conductors)
  • Offer some panel discussions where we may involve some of you, for example a panel on copyright and performing rights issues
  • Have a “composers-conductors-publishers” permanent meeting space in the main building of the event, where composers and publishers can meet conductors / vocal leaders and introduce their work with them
  • Publishers and event organisers can also disseminate flyers where they say that they will be present in this place on certain days at certain hours, when they can also swell something or share their catalogues/brochures with interested conductors and answer questions
  • Offer publishers, event organisers and organisations the possibility to host a reception, recommending venues and caterers for this.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to write to us to: info@leadingvoices.ee!

Hope to see you in Tallinn!
