Conductor: Mikk Üleoja
In 2025, as the world celebrated Arvo Pärt’s 90th birthday and the 95th anniversary of Veljo Tormis’s birth, the Estonian National Male Choir’s dedicated programme “Pärt & Tormis” was created; it premiered at the Arvo Pärt Centre in Laulasmaa. Tormis can be considered the “resident composer” of the National Male Choir, as the ensemble has performed his music across the globe over the past decades. Pärt’s existing body of work for male choir is limited to just a few pieces; consequently, with the permission of the Pärt family, new male choir arrangements were created specifically for this programme for the works “The Deer’s Cry” (arr. Kuldar Schüts), “Zwei Beter”, and “Which Was the Son of…” (arr. Tauno Aints). Forming a beautiful, cohesive whole, this programme of works by Pärt and Tormis showcases the distinct creative and intellectual worlds of these two giants of Estonian music while drawing intriguing thematic parallels.
Tickets 20/15€ from Piletitasku and before the concert on the spot.
